The Beginning of Something New

It is amazing how a struggle or challenge in life can lead you to discover something that you are truly passionate about. Something that moves you. Something that you enjoy so much that you feel the need to share it with others. And all because of the massive impact that it has made in your own personal life. Often times when we face challenges or struggles, we often think that these challenges are happening to us when they may actually be happening for us. Perhaps it is happening so that we can see something bigger, become something greater, or bring light and positivity into our life or someone else's life.

The many health challenges that I was going through in 2016, 2017, and into 2018 were happening for me. However, at that time, I didn't realize this. In August of 2018, after having a third knee surgery, I was recovering at home without much to do besides focus on my physical therapy. My wife had sent me some videos to watch on YouTube and after watching a few of them I stumbled across one video that really piqued my interest. It was a health video in which the guest speaker was talking about his own personal health transformation. As the interview progressed, I came to find out that a lot of the symptoms which he experienced were very similar to the symptoms which I was experiencing; headaches, fatigue, low energy, and being constantly hungry to name a few. After watching that specific video I began to look for similar videos. When I told my wife what I had learned, she encouraged me to continue to explore this area of interest. And since I didn't have anything else to do, as I sat there nursing my knee, that is exactly what I did. I geeked out on health and nutrition videos.

For those who don't know me, I have always been someone who has been physically active. Whether it is going for a hike or run, playing sports, or going to the gym, these are all things that I have always enjoyed. During the three year period that I was dealing with my health challenges, you would have thought that I was in great shape and that my health was just as good. Unfortunately, ones physical appearance is not a good indicator of health and at that time I didn't know any better, so I kept pushing harder. On the outside I looked great, but on the inside, my body was functioning at sub-optimal level and my body was giving me signals that something wasn't right. Often times it is hard to pick up on these signals though. With as much focus as I was putting into my physical body, you would think that I would have felt great. However, it was quite the opposite and I really didn't know why I felt like crap all the time. It was at this point in time, as I sat on my living room floor doing my physical therapy, going from one video to the next, that I realized that hitting the gym might only be a small fraction of what it takes to live a healthy life.

So, little by little I began to do more and more research. Over the next 3 months (the time I was off work recovering) I dove into learning as much as I could. Every day I was learning something new and little by little I began to implement a lot of what I was learning. This was the beginning of my own personal health and wellness journey, and it was exciting! It didn't take very long before I began to notice changes and began to feel better. Changes began to take place within just a few of weeks and by the time I returned to work, I felt like a different person. Although I am in a much better place now when it comes to my overall health, than I was in 2018, I have come to find out that health isn't a destination that you arrive at, but rather, a lifelong journey that is ever evolving. And it is much more than the exercise we do or the food that we eat.

To this day I continue to be a student of the game, however, it is now time to take this a step further. Like I said at the beginning of this post, it is amazing how a struggle or

challenge in life can lead you to discover something that you are truly passionate about. This is where I'm at now and I feel it is time to share the gift of health with others. A project that was nothing but a mere cool thought, wish, dream, or whatever else you would like to call it at the end of 2020, has now come to fruition. I hope that all of you that are reading this, friends, family, and acquaintances, join me on this journey. I hope that I can inspire you to live the life you truly want and deserve. A life filled with health, happiness, and fulfillment.
